Sixth European Ural Meeting

5th - 7th of September 2014

2014-08-28

Ural Eurotreff 2014

Шестая европейская урал-встречя Австриa 2014

Beginning of August already more than 100 participants have applied. Again the Ural meeting will be colourful and international, the registrations are from Germany, Switzerland, Denmark, France, Italy, England, Hungaria, Czech Republic, Slowakia and Austria.

This year there will be no roadbook rallye with off-road routes, because the specific situation in the Salzkammergut does not allow this. But the road-book rallye which is so popular for the off-road specialists will be available for all participants. We are offering 4 different tours on Saturday and for the 2 longer tours a roadbook is available.

That means this year there will be no guided tour, but everybody can drive individually or in groups to the chosen destinations guided by the roadbook. Those who have never driven with a roadbook have the possibility to try it now. We did not include any tricks, so the destinations are easy to find. It is real fun:

Here are our offers for Saturday, 6th of September:

1.)The Genneralm route

A route of 160 km in the region „Salzburger Tennengau“. Recommended departure from the Postalm is between 10:00 and 11:00 o’clock. The main goal is the “Hintererhütte” on the Gennerpasture at midday. The Hintererhütte is a very small but rustic pasture hut.

There you can get fresh cooked “Kasnocken” (cheese gnocchi) or a “Brettljause” (cold meal with sausage, cheese etc. ) or also a “Kaiserschmarrn” (sugared pancake with rosins). The way up to the Genner pasture is a 3,7 km long gravel road, easy to drive. Unfortunately there is a toll barrier which demands 7 Euros in 1 or 2 Euro coins in order to open. But there is one good thing: the barrier does not recognise how many sidecar outfits can pass in 10 seconds – that means you just have to be organised and fast, so that as many as possible sidecars pass at one time.
Those who want coffee and cake on the way back: We can offer a 10 kilometre side trip up to the “Zwölferhorn” to the Bartlhütte and to the Lärchenhütte (with a 3 minutes foot walk). From there you have a beautiful view to the “Wolfangsee” (lake).

2.) The Dachstein tour

This 90 kilometer long tour brings us very close to the Dachstein. The tour includes the hot spots of the the Salzkammergut tourism, because we pass Hallstadt, but also Bad Ischl.

You can stay there according to your likes and gaze at tourists from all over the world and of course also at the stage why the tourists are standing upside down here. (The town center of Hallstadt was rebuilt 1:1 in China). A side tour to the Gosausee (lake) with the famous view on the Gosaugletscher (glacier) and the Dachstein is included. The main goal of this tour is the cable car up to the Krippenstein in Obertauern. From the intermediate station guided tours are offered to the ice cave and/or the mammut cave. (EUR 28,00 per person). Really worth seeing!

Or you can also take the cable car up to the top station (EUR 29,00 per person) and walk about 7 minutes to the restaurant „Lodge“ and enjoy your lunch with a beautiful view to the Dachstein glacier. Maybe somebody wants to hike to the “Five Fingers” or the “World Heritage Spiral” after lunch, but the deep view there to the Hallstädter lake is only for those who have a head for heights.

3.) The butter milk tour

Around 12 kilometer. This tour does not even leave the Postalm. We do not need a roadbook. It is the tour for the comfortable ones. You can head for 4 goals: the Rettenegg hut, the restaurant Thoralm, the Strobler hut and the cheese dairy Schnitzhof. All of these 4 gastronomy places are easy accessible per bike. At these places you can taste real and fresh butter milk.

4.) The „Zirbenschnaps“ route (stone pine schnaps)

It is the same route as the butter milk route but without bike.

5.) The Pitscherberg route

This is the most beautiful route, but without bike. Per foot it is about a 1,5 hour walk to the Pitscherberg hut. Very easy to walk. The Pitscherberg hut is really a sensation – from out- and inside. Probably the most beautiful and rustic hut in whole Salzburg. Good, yes very good is the “Jausen” (cold meat and cheese) there. If the weather is nice there is a nice view on the Dachsein and the Gosau glacier.

Some hints for the journey to the Postalm:

You can reach the Postalm from the South via Abtenau or from the North via Strobl. The Postalm street is a toll street. If you come from the South, there is a barrier which takes coins. If you come from North there is toll station where an employee takes your money during day time. Every participant will receive a sticker of the meeting. With this sticker you can pass the toll stations during the whole weekend without paying again.

The Postalm is situated on the edge of the Salzkammergut. The region of Salzkammergut is well known as a stronghold of the Austrian tourism business, with beautiful landscape and many attractions.

Normally, we prefer to stay away from touristic highlights. But, we want to introduce this superb spot of Austria to you show you some secret places in the Salzkammergut.
We are looking forward to seeing many many Ural sidecars from all over Europe. As hosts we will make big efforts to provide a nice and exciting time in Austria. The setting is perfect.

For the organisation of the event we will charge EUR 10,00 per person.
Just for the organisation we kindly ask you to inform us per email (office@ural.at) if you will participate.
